How to build candor without creating chaos

Psychological safety is not lower standards. It is the condition that allows high standards to stick.

Many teams want more candor, but they fear it will create conflict. In practice, silence is usually more expensive than disagreement.

Candor works when leaders provide structure. Clarify the decision that needs to be made, define what kind of feedback is needed, and set a time boundary for the conversation.

People can handle hard truth when the process is clear and respectful. Without structure, teams avoid truth. With structure, candor becomes usable.
